The WiPASS Project

Published on 19 October 2013

WiPASS is a research project funded by the European Union investigating low-frequency wireless power transfer (WPT) for autonomous sensor systems.

The main goals of the project are to improve and to optimize a specific low-frequency technology, namely the magnetodynamic WPT technology, to compare its performances to state-of-the-art WPT solutions, and to study its commercial relevance and competitiveness for various applications.

Magnetodynamic WPT is particularly interesting because it can safely transfer power through human tissue, metal and seawater as a consequence of its low frequency of operation.
